Uganda Visa

Before entering Uganda, you need to purchase a visa. Tourists can obtain visas in advance from their home countries, or upon entry at different points like Entebbe International Airport or Boarders that includes Busia, Malaba, Bunagana, Katuna and Cyanika among others.

For 90 days, Uganda visa costs US$ 50 per person and if you need to extend your stay, then purchase another visa for other 90 days stay in Uganda. However, tourists are often only given two weeks visa so if you are planning to stay longer than two weeks, be ready to state this at the border. Uganda tourist visas can be extended at the immigration office in Kampala for an additional fee. Your passport must have a minimum of six months validity remaining.
Documents Required When applying for Uganda Visa

The following documents are needed by the Visa Head Quarter for any one applying for Uganda Visa:

*Visitors must apply for the Ugandan visa form.

*For online orders, please download, print and sign Uganda visa application form prepared by online system under your account.

*Original, signed United States passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.

*Passport-type photographs: 2

*Copy of round trip tickets or itinerary (Applicant’s name must be on itinerary)

*Yellow Fever Vaccination, Copy of International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever

*Copy of confirmed hotel reservations.

* If visiting friends or family in Uganda, you must provide the

*Copy of host’s ID (Uganda Passport or Driver’s license)

*If host is not a Uganda national they must provide a copy of their Uganda visa along with a copy of their passport information page.

*Letter of invitation from the host in Uganda – sign the letter and address it to the “Consulate of Uganda, Visa Section.” The letter must contain the following information:

*Personal information of the applicant: Name, gender, date of birth, and passport details.

*Details of the visit: Dates, purpose, places to visit, and places of accommodation.

*Details of the inviting party: Name, address, phone number, and relationship to the applicant

*Name, address, phone number, and relationship to the applicant.
UK Travel Document Holders (Blue / Brown)

*One duly filled application form by each applicant.

*One passport size photograph attached to each application form.

*Travel Document valid for at least six months from the proposed date of entry.

*Correct visa fee (£35 for single entry visa & £80 for six-month multiple entry visa).

* Invitation letter from Ugandan company or friends.

*Photocopies of invitee’s passport (Pages 1, 45 and data page with picture) to be faxed from Uganda.

*Applicant’s Bank Statements for the last three months.

*Sponsor’s Bank Statements for the last three months.

*Evidence of travel arrangements (booking details).

*Leave Approval Letter from your UK employer/educational institution.

*Applicant’s utility bills (i.e. Gas, Electricity, Water, and Residence Telephone).

*Please note that in addition to these requirements, you may be required to give additional information by way of interview.

*UK Travel Document holders are advised not to purchase a ticket before obtaining a visa. Visa processing time for UK Travel Document holders is within 5 working days.

*Visa fees must be paid in cash (exact money please) or a postal money order payable to UGANDA HIGH COMMISSION, on submission of visa application. Cheques are not accepted. Please note that the visa fee is non-refundable.

*Please note that failure to complete the application form fully may result in the issuance of a visa being delayed or refused.
Multiple entry visa:

A six-month multiple entry visa costs £80 (eighty pounds). Other categories of multiple entry visas (12 months, 24 months & 36 months) can be applied for at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kampala.
Countries exempted from Uganda Visas

Below is a list of countries whose residents do not need to enter Uganda with visas include Angola, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Burundi, Comoros, Cyprus, Eritrea, Fiji, Gambia, Grenada, Italy (Diplomatic Passport holders only), Jamaica, Ireland, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Malta, Mauritius, Madagascar, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, St. Vincent and Grenadines, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Vanuatu, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
East Africa Tourist Visa

If one is visiting more than one East African countries, you are advised to get the East Africa Tourist Visa that will allow travel between Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda with the same multiple entry visa. The East Africa Tourist visa is the result of a joint initiative made by the Heads of States of the respective partner countries to boost regional travel and create opportunities for tourists to explore the diversity of East Africa. Many tourists into East Africa like to visit more than one countries in the region and this visa greatly works for them, for example, one can combine Uganda and Kenya, or Uganda and Rwanda especially for gorilla tracking where people want to track gorillas twice both countries (Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Mgahinga or Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda).

The fact that Uganda and Rwanda offer perfect destinations to track wild mountain gorillas in the world, many people from different parts of the world fly into the region for this activity and this has led to rapid development and construction of gorilla trekking lodges around the gorilla parks to offer accommodation and food to tourists. The region in habits the world’s last remaining population of the endangered mountain gorillas, found in the Virunga chain of mountains shared among Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo.
East African Tourist Visa Information & Eligibility

Eligible Person: Tourist, no restrictions on country of origin
Dependents: All tourists must apply in their own right.
Travel Documents Required: Official and genuine international passport, valid for at least 6 months from the date of visa application.
Fees: East African Tourist Visa costs US Dollars 100 only per visa
Visa Validity: It’s Valid for 90 days
Single or Multiple Entry: Allows multiple entry to all three countries (Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda)
Work or no Work: Work is not permitted
Extension: An East Africa Tourist Visa shall not be extended.
